Amendment XIII:


Section 1.

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

Section 2.

Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

I added this picture as a certificate to display the abolishing of  slavery!

The 13th amendment banned slavery in all states in the United States after Lincoln presented the emancipation of proclamation. If you commit a crime you can be put to work as a punishment for the crime and you are to remain in the United States or within the jurisdiction of the state you committed the crime in.




I chose this official review of the documentary on Netflix called 13th because it explains the 13th amendment and all the things African Americans went through .
